When my son was about six years old, he attended a prayer meeting with my mom and me for our American Italian Club. Everyone had an opportunity to mention their intention, and my son decided he wanted to pray for his grandma, who was there with us. My mom was smiling with pride until he added, “Cause, you know, she is OLD!”
My mom said, “Hey what do you mean old…?”
We all roared with laughter!

Not a day goes by where my teenage sons don’t tease me about getting old. They especially like to call me ‘Oldy Moldy.’ Ah, that’s sweet.

This made me laugh out loud. Not because of what they call you, which is awful, but because of you saying, “Ah, that’s sweet.” Ha! Way to keep a good attitude about it!

It’s either laugh, cry, or refuse to make them dinner. I choose the first. Although, on second thought, do they really need to eat?…

Ha! This sounds like the principle one follows when a little kid: don’t let them know that they got to you. It’s the reaction that they’re going for. Laughing is probably a smart move. Who knows what catchy phrase they might come up with next if you don’t!

haha, very cute! At least he didn’t pray for something like a toy he wanted.

That’s true. He was unique and thinking outside of himself. That’s something anyway!

Yes, very tactful. It probably embarrassed you more than your mom. My mom seems to be okay when the children say somthing like this.
