At least, I wasn’t on my recent trip. You know you’re in Texas when everyone wants you to know they’re Texan.
Texas tattoo spotted in the Houston airport.
I texted this to my Texan friend and wrote, “I’m in your state! Can you feel it?”
He said no and texted back a pic of himself at the beach… in California!!!
I relayed this to Hubby back home, so he promptly texted this friend: “You’re in my state! I can feel it!”
We double teamed to get a good laugh out of our friend. π
I got to ride one of these little planes on my hop to Louisiana. Two seats on one side, one on the other. Those are fun. Also…
True story. BTW, are you on Twitter? Are we following each other? If not, let’s make that happen.
Other highlights from this trip:
Chinese Cajun buffet. The winner was the cream cheese stuffed mushroom at a little after 9:00 on this plate. Not sure what this is a tentacle from, but I’m never one to pass up trying something new.Mussel, crab, crawfishIn case you were unaware, this is what the inside of a mussel looks like. It tasted how it looks. π¦Post-first night conference pic sent back to Hubby. If you look closely in the background mirror, you’ll see I have my pajama pants on already. πAfter the second night, I went to a place that had a wall of margaritas. Pictured is only about a third of them. Thankfully, someone said “amaretto sting” was good, so I got that. It would’ve taken me far too long to choose otherwise. The drink wasn’t delicious, but it got better toward the bottom. π Then…Karaoke was never on my bucket list, but I figured, since I was far from home, why not? We sang “Satisfaction” by the Rolling Stones. I didn’t want a mic, but it was shoved in my face on occasion. Otherwise, I danced. π
It was difficult to land on a song we could do together. One wanted a country song. (Gag!) The other kept recommending show tunes. (Uuum…) Finally I suggested classic rock, Rolling Stones being the first to come to mind. My favorite is “Paint it Black,” but that was vetoed as being “really hard to sing,” so we landed on “Satisfaction.” It was a great way to end the weekend.
Backing up a bit, before the trip, I was tearing apart my closet for appropriate outfits. I sent pics to Neighbor to get her opinion on a few dresses. Then I put on these…
Have I mentioned before how much I love my neighbor? (I have.)
I hope y’all have had some fun travels, interesting food, and satisfying karaoke adventures. If so, do tell!
You renamed your blog! Wow – congratulations! And I love the MMA – so clever.
But I can’t figure out the dress/pajama pants picture. You had the dress on – so how is it the pajama pants are showing? And if I went to a conference, I think I’d spend the whole time sleeping, so good for you!
In the background mirror (you may need to zoom in), the pj’s are showing under the dress. I was getting ready for bed (pants on first for warmth), then thought Hubby might want a pic of his wife in a dress first.
I thought you could only get steak and beer in Texas. I’ve know people from Texas and they didn’t call it another state, but rather another nation that was just real friendly with America – as long as you were visiting and spending money and left after two weeks.
Yeah! You are back and better than ever with the new name. We are going on vacay next week, so hopefully will have some fun adventures. The tentacles look like octopus, which Iβve had. But I give a no thanks to the mussels and crayfish. Between that plate of food and the karaoke, itβs like you went to China! You look gorgeous in your red dress. Welcome back.
My feet are planted in Charlotte this summer, so thanks for taking us along! Where’s the lobster? That’s my seafood of choice. π A wall of margaritas sounds like big trouble!
Just reading the word “conference” sent shivers up my spine (and not the good, John Howell kind of shivers). I went to enough of those while working… although I don’t remember having a wall full of margarita choices so maybe I just didn’t go to the right places. So far, I haven’t gotten drunk enough to sing karaoke, so it’s still on my bucket list.
There’s a karaoke bar I (sort of) frequent up here in my town, Janis. If you want to check that one off your list, I’ll be happy to blog about it for you. You might be slurring your fingers too much to type clearly. π
Hi. Glad you enjoyed your trip. Iβve never been to Texas. But I wouldnβt mind going to Austin, one reason being that I like its slogan: Keep Austin Weird.
Is no one else going to talk about how you have your workout equipment with you on your travels, lol. I’d imagine lugging a few dumbbells around to be a bit unwieldy on trips, but maybe those are just things you found there. And that plane! Would be a luxury to get the one-seat side, for sure. Also, great one with the MMA blog title!
Very interestingπ Seafood is my favorite! Love your picture in red dress. I had one of the best BBQ at Texas a few years ago. The meat and sweat corn were so yummy!
I see you have changed your Blog Name!!!! I love it!!!!
And that you are travelling …. to the South…. did I ever mention that I lived in Waco, Texas for about 6 years in the late 1980s?
P/S Love the pic of you with the hidden jammy bottoms!
Yes indeed – for college. And I think your new name is very snazzy & apropos. If I could, I would stay in jimjams all day β¦. What am I saying? Sometimes I do!!!!
Hi
I was going to tease you and say
“So you own a dress?”
But then the part of the post sigh the jeans revealed you own a few – hahahah
–
The song you picked for karaoke seems Versatile
My hubs and i tag teamed BOC’s “burning for you” in 2019
And the only hard part was the long music section – can’t really dance to it so just kind of chill
Oh, those musical interludes, yes. What does one do? I feel bad for bands where the singer doesn’t also play guitar because he then just has to stand there, looking occupied somehow, until its his turn to sing again.
And, yes, I own several dresses, thank you very much! π
I was kidding about the dresses because I just assume your white Martial arts outfit everywhere and then change it up with fun tshirts (kidding again)
And I think being in a band one would get used to the down times or long spots?
Ohhh FUN trip!!! The food looked soooo goood! I have been craving a buffet meal for a couple years now LOL how weird is that to say lol.. but you know what I mean!
I feel like we’re kindred spirits because I too wreck my closet before a trip just to find something decent to wear and then I too try on clothes a top my pj pants for convenience! haha
Finally noticed your new blog title – when you reply to my posts I still see ParentingIsFunny… so glad the internet didn’t cave with that massive shift in names!
I played it safe with the blog name shift, BB. Changing the name was easy. Changing the URL was the real challenge. When I discovered it would require an upgrade, I thought, “Meh. I’ll just change the name for now.” π

I think it’s funny that you went to Texas for Chinese food. That’d be like going to New England for a tasty curry.
Good thing you weren’t wearing your assless chaps when you snapped that pic in front of the mirror!

Technically I got that food in Louisiana. And the chaps sound distinctly country. So that’s a no on multiple levels.

The pic with my weights was at home when I was planning my outfits. I had joked about taking them with me, though. That would be serious dedication!
I DID get the one-seat side on one of the flights, and it WAS a luxury–both aisle and window at once!
Thanks for liking the blog title. π
