Now, relax. This was the wordle from days ago, while I was isolated thanks to my visit from the ‘rona fairy. Here’s my text complaint to my mother.

And now what you’ve all been waiting for: everyone’s ideas for a new blog name!
I make no promises about changing “Parenting is Funny,” but it was fun to see what you all came up with–an even 20!
You probably wanted me to list them like a survey, but I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings if their suggestion doesn’t get many votes. If you’d like, you can list up to your top 5 in the comments, and I’ll give myself a ridiculous amount of work sorting through all that for a “finals” round. But I’d do it for you, my BBBs!
Here they are, listed in the order that I read them in the comments:
- Speaking Out of Turn
2. Crazy with a yellow belt (Though this would have to be updated periodically. When it no longer needs to be updated, Crazy with a Black Belt has a great ring to it!)
3. Parenting is NOT funny (though she was kidding, still…)
4. Betsy, out of turn
5. Stuff that cracks me up
6. Life is Funny
7. The Accidental Rooster
8. Chex and Balances
9. Things Betsy does that no one else would dare
10. Chex Mix, Chickens, and other Tales
11. The Un-ordinary Life of Betsy Kerekes
12. Laugh at the Little Things and You’ll Laugh All Day
13. Laugh and the world laughs with you.
14. Laugh Lines
15. I Have Nothing Better To Offer
16. All Things Betsy
17. Take You Unaware (or Mid-Sentence)
18. Betsy’s Mixed Bag (not Chex)
19. Betsy’s Talk Show
20. Chick Kick
There they are, my lovelies! Which ones do you like the best?
Okay here are my five in no order. (Well really no particular order) Good luck deciding.
Life is Funny
Chex and Balances
Chex Mix, Chickens, and other Tales
Laugh Lines
Chick Kick

Oh my goodness, I like Chex and Balances and Chick Kick. And also Crazy with a Yellow Belt for sentimental reasons. But they are all good. Love this creative community.
Hope you are fully on the mend, my friend!

I love this creative community too! Thank you for your votes, Wynne!
Not fully on the mend, but getting closer. I have a half-typed email to you on my phone still.
I should probably find and finish that! 😛

Jacqui, no! Sleep, woman! It’s just for fun. The blog title isn’t going to change (most likely). Although I may need to separate my fic from NF and therefore need a pseudonym and blog overhaul. Hmm…

Lots of great choices here! While I’m not going to pick a favorite, I like the idea of updating your blog name to embrace all that you write about. I’m glad you are feeling better. (Also, I don’t mean to brag but I got that one in four – KRILL… really?). 🙂

Come on, Janis! I had Covid! Cut me some slack! (Yeah, looking back, “krill” cracks me up too.) It’s about searching for more letter, all right?! 😛

I like Life is Funny. Cuz really, Parenting is Funny? The kids are gonna grow up. Maybe get smart. Some of them, 2 outta 3, say . Do you have to be a mom forever? It is so exhausting! Isn’t there a time limit! A contract? Life is Funny. Definitely, but exhausting.

Being a mother to your children is the greatest honor of your life, Flojo!!! Imagine all of that written in caps, because that’s how it sounded in my head! Also, over the phone, since I’m in quarantine, my kids say I sound just like you. Scary. {Shudder}

Smart of you to just use the numbers, Beth. I numbered them so people would be able to vote easily that way. I’m surprised so many are writing the words out. Your votes are tallied! Thanks!

I still like my Accidental Rooster, but looks like I’m in the minority. I do like Chex and Balances and I think that Parenting is Not Funny would fit in with the teen years.

Gotta go with either Chex and Balances or The Accidental Rooster.
Hope you’re feeling better!

Yeah it’s usually fun, usually lol. Literally TWO bounces in and the muscles around my lower back seized up. Embarrassing since I roll with guys that are 60-80+lbs heavier than me and my spine can take THAT 😂 Been seeing a Doc and thankfully it’s just muscles and no skeletal issues. I’ll be back at it shortly for sure

accidental rooster was my top choice too (just had to share )
LikeLiked by 2 people
the accidental rooster
is my absolute top choice (even though I submitted #3 and I am glad you didn’t do the survey to spare us the let down if we got zero votes)
—
the accidental rooster is succinct, easy to remember as it is so one of a kind – and the three word are just blog name worthy
—
many of the other ones were awesome – but the whole “Chex” thing seems like an inside topic that I am not aware of – and then isn’t that going to be changing – like a belt color would – or is Chex that big at your house? what if you go kept and dump the grains and Chex is on the “crap food” list (where it belongs in my humble opinion) hahah
LikeLiked by 1 person
The accidental rooster did crack me up the most, I must admit. It’s true–the chex makes no sense to anyone who hasn’t been following me for a long time. And it hasn’t been a topic I’ve covered for quite some time.

well best wishes as you find the perfect new name

Thanks, PH! I don’t actually intend to change the name, at least not yet. This was just for fun. A blogger suggested it, so I sort of rolled with it. I hope it was fun for readers.

Oh great – because the “parenting is funny” is a good name because it is so memorable and easy – if that makes sense.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Of course that makes sense. It was the perfect title when the I started the blog to share goofy stories about my kids. It has evolved since then. The kids aren’t as funny, I guess! ;P
LikeLiked by 1 person
Well my blog started as a type of “family sharing” because I wanted to share some of the literature the boys and I read (oh those moving stories like The Scarlet Ibis and The Open Boat) – but then (as you so well know) the blog evolved many times and is now more “mine” than family stuff….

Yep, I hear ya. Now I write more about martial arts than anything–far removed from the original purpose. A pivot I didn’t see coming. 🙂

yes – and I got the martial arts connections in some of the blog names – because that topic has been around since I have actively following along here 🙂

One of my favorite bloggers and I were talking about a Dilbert cartoon that had the phrase “THE DOGMATIC BABBLING OF A MANAGER IN TOTAL COGNITIVE SURRENDER”… She suggested that Dogmatic Babblings is a missed opportunity for a blog title. I loved it.
In that spirit, how about “Blithesome Babblings of a Mother in Total Kinfolk Surrender”? 😀

Of those picks, and there were plenty of good ones, I am partial to “Life is funny.”
It embraces all things Betsy. Many of those names were clever but could lead one to believe the blog was not about many different things. Just my too sense. 😉

Okay, how about 6, 8, 11. Although, i keep remembering the post that kind of started all this and I like #1 😀
I haven’t jumped into the Wordle pool. Hubs asked me if I knew what all the fuss was about. I told him I play Wordscape instead. Although, with “krill” and “prick” as solutions, I might have to join in 🙂
LikeLiked by 1 person
A couple people gave me a hard time in the comments about krill, but when the answer was prick, I think I was well within bounds with that guess.
I’m guessing, as you’ve made your way through these posts, that you know by now that #8 was the winner. Mark wins the cleverness contest.
