Here’s what happened:
Our Aristocats book was lightly scribbled in by one of my daughters years ago, like so:
When Joe asked about it, I told him his sister had done it. The next day, I discovered more scribbles, like so:
“Joe, did you scribble in this book?” Parenting note: I already knew the answer to this question, so I shouldn’t have worded it in such a way that would encourage him to lie. Nevertheless, it was the first shocked response to come out of me.
He responded: “No.”
“Oh really?” I said. “Then who did?”
“My sister.”
“Your sister is old enough now to know better. I know you did this, Joe. Would you please say, ‘I’m sorry I colored in the book'”?
“I’m sorry you colored in the book.”
Me: !!!!!!!!!
I had to call in reinforcements at that point, I was so bothered. I mean, MY child be a smart aleck? Hubby, once apprised of the situation, talked sense into our son and got him to apologize.
But this sweet little boy? The one who wanted to take a bath so he tried to get undressed himself??
Sigh. It’s a good thing he’s so cute.
In other news, I made a startling observation while grocery shopping the other day. If everyone dresses like this, how will store keepers know who the bandits are?
How have your shopping experiences been? A friend didn’t know stores even WERE open and was just ordering everything online. I’ll tell you what, though, having a garden, fruit trees, and chickens has been awesome. If only we had a dairy cow, too. Anyone else feeling some farmer tendencies coming on?
We’ve talked about owning chickens (and a goat) for years. Probably won’t happen now…at least not the goat…but then again, we can walk to two grocery stores in about 15 minutes. There’s really no need for us to go all “Green Acres.”

I would love to own a goat. They seem so fun, but Hubby reminds me that it will eat all our flowers and other non-grass/weeds plants, so thumbs down on that one. Very cool that you can walk to stores. Not so much here.

He’ll do great in business. First lesson for executives – have someone to blame for your mistakes.
And shopping has mixed for us. As the panic dies down the lines are shorter and there are more items available. Except we haven’t been able to buy split peas. My wife has a ham bone frozen that would be perfect in a split pea soup. We’ve been to 4 stores – none to be found. I did find a place on line to buy them, 8.95 per lb, plus 6.95 shipping and they’ll be here in July!
LikeLiked by 3 people
Yikes to that whole on-line price and timing for split peas! What a bummer. At least the ham bone is in the freezer to keep until things are less nutty. Can you grow your own? Costs less but also not ready until July. 😉

Well, we did plant a row of peas – should be ready in four weeks, well be July.

Just don’t wear that to the bank! Lol. I’m enjoying the “farmer” thing as well, Betsy, though no cow here either. And Joe is a riot. You’re going to have your hands full with that little smarty pants. 🙂

He’s cute, no doubt. I believe he’s what they used to call, a pistol. I haven’t been in a store in weeks so I don’t know what’s going on there. Your bandana accessory is cute.

Thanks, but the bandana is hard to keep in place. Fortunately, I happened upon a mask when putting dress-up clothes back in the proper drawer. Turns out, the kids have a doctor costume, complete with mask! I said, “I’ll just be borrowing this, if you don’t mind.” They did not. 🙂

I love going out to get the eggs. I try to change outfits each time so the chickens don’t realize that it is the same day and I have already been out there 12 times.

I feel for you, Betsy! I put it all down to the shock & disbelief that anything like that could come from our angels!
My husband is a firm believer that this is a mark of a quick & lateral thinker, and though aggravating for us, will serve them well in life ( sometimes I wonder about that man!)
I think I own a bandana in that colour & print!!!!!

I think as long as you refrain from wearing your six shooter on your hip and your spurs on your boots, you should be fine. But you may want to wear some sparkly rainbow unicorn sunglasses, just to be sure. I don’t think bandits wear such glasses, but I could be wrong.

Haha! Now I really want to see a bandit wearing such glasses. This reminds me of that seen in the original Terminator movie when he pulls sunglasses off a rack. The first he grabs are something ridiculous and girly. Wish I could remember what they were, exactly, but the same basic idea. 🙂

He IS cute. And he did say what you told him to say. 🙂 I think Mr. Joseph is playing up the cuteness and KNOWS how much his mother appreciates humor. He’s wise, that one.
I have done most shopping on line for a few years because I do NOT enjoy grocery shopping. So that has not impacted me. I don’t mind the masks because they hide the jowls. I have often dreamed of returning to some kind of farming life. It would be wonderful. And as a side note, we’ve had toilet paper delivered to the house for years because it was cheaper. In all of our years, never a problem. Then, this hits, our TP package arrived torn and beat to heck. I think someone thought we were hoarders. It made me sad.

Haha – I like that story! You know kids are cute for a reason right?Your son is a charmer 🙂 As for the grocery store – I’ve been going every 2 weeks, with a delivery in the off week. The stores have been okay – people are beginning to know what to do – we have arrows on the floors telling us which way to go. The best thing I ever did was learn how to use the shopper’s wand/scanner a few months ago. Now no one else touches my items and I go directly to an automatic check-out.

I wonder if those auto-check outs will become the norm from now on. They really are ingenious. I just feel bad, though, for the loss of jobs they’d create.

Hoo-boy. You know you’re going to have all sorts of fun when he gets to be about 10, right? That’s the smart-aleck stage. He’s just getting in some practice 😀 Having th chickens is great, but now we have so many eggs (I was selling our extras to a couple gals at work) we’re going to have to start making egg bake for every meal. And hubs has already suggested we should do a Big garden this year (after all those years of trying to downsize it). Eh, maybe. I think we’re almost out of the pickles I did a few years back, so we’re due. Now if I could just get someone to weed for me 😀 😀
Lucky you! Fruit trees! I wish we could grow some good fruit trees, like lemonade trees, or orange juice trees, or mojito trees. Wait, no. Long Island Iced Tea trees! Tea comes from trees, right? 😀

Oooooh… Long Island Iced Tea trees… after drinking enough of those I might seriously believe they do grow on trees! ;P
Age 10, huh? Somehow I think he’ll definitely be getting an earlier start.

Like mother like son, he will be a comedian just like his mommy!!! He is adorable. I don’t grocery shop, I stay home with the 2 grandkids and send my husband. He wears a mask but other than that isn’t safe enough with hand washing for me. The minute he walks in I’m like “Wash your hands”!!!

Oh for reals–on all fronts. And then we wipe every food item down with sanitizing wipes. It’s so annoying. Can we all just be done with this yet?

Farmer tendencies–yes. We are “farming” a very sarcastic cat that “produces” sarcastic sounds. This one is prolific, so good news there. I am trying to grow herbs on my windowsill–and we’re growing a starter dough in the fridge, which has been alive since Easter. Other things I would like to grow that are missing from grocery shelves: toothpaste and a sack of lentils. Cheers!

Grow toothpaste–Ha! I’ll bet people wish TP grew on trees. I saw a meme of a TP’d house that said, My home’s value went up by $10,000 overnight!

I thought the same thing! Saw a dude with a face mask and cowboy hat and asked him where the rodeo was?
Shopping is certainly a challenge these days. People not following the one way down the aisle rule and i feel like a salmon going upstream!😊
(On a more serious note: this pandemic is breaking my heart in more ways than one…💔glad u and the family r well. Stay safe and healthy!)💖

What did the cowboy say when you asked about the rodeo? Did he laugh, at least?
Totally about people going the wrong way, though, I must admit, that was me once. Oops!
And, Lucie, no! No heart-breaking! I refuse to allow it! This too shall pass! Stay positive! Look for the positive in every day. People around the world are really stepping up for each other. This is awful, yes, but it’s also bringing out the best in people. Watch Some Good News with John Krasinski on YouTube, ‘kay?

I did write a story about the two names this past year. They are both mine on different legal papers and it can cause complications. Everyone has a story about their name. Some bloggers use E/E. I wondered about all of the syllables, yet, when I began my blog I could not decide which one to use. I will add link here, only if you want to read.🙂

I love the “honesty” of children – they honestly don’t want to get in trouble, but they honestly want to get their siblings in some hot water. 🙂 Speaking of hot water, bet that was a fun bath. Grocery shopping is just not fun now – I realize that I smile a lot, and now, no one at the store realizes that I’m smiling at them with the face mask on. But…. I still keep smiling.

Smiling is still evident in the eyes, so I think you’re good! And, yeah, not as much fun now, but I’ve found people can be really nice, like when I have to say excuse me to get around them. They’re always so gracious about it. I definitely feel the “we’re all in this together mentality,” which is a nice little reprieve from the general stress.

The kindness and universality of “let’s get through this together” make a HUGE difference. Here’s to smiling through our face masks. xo
