Out of energy, I flopped myself down on the couch. Of course, that’s about when my son woke up from his nap. One of the older children retrieved him from his crib, and he found me.
Rather than demand I get up and play with him, he gave me a stuffed kitten and laid his beloved blankie across my back.
“Should I read you a story?” he asked.
“Yes, please,” I said.
He grabbed the book, Dear Zoo, and read it quite well from memory.
“Would you like a song now?” he asked.
“Sure,” I said.
He sang Mary Had a Little Lamb, not well, but definitely recognizably.
“Would you like another song? I could do Car Drives Too Fast, Crashes, and Catches on Fire,” he offered.
Sadly, he got distracted and ran off before I could hear the contents of that little ditty.
Maybe next time.
Until then, stay safe friends, and …
Sweet.

An unexpected treat. Toddlers are usually quite selfish and self-serving. And trust me, he normally is those things to a T!

Ha! You will definitely have to get the lyrics to that song–so funny:)

I totally totally wished that while it was happening. Especially the song he sang. No one but me was around, though, and I didn’t dare move. Oh well. At least it’s now written down.

What a nice son. How often did he come back to see if you were really asleep?

He didn’t, but I stopped trying anyway. It was for sure a lost cause by that point. The little man was awake.

I think the Pooh and Piglet meme is the best yet!!!!

Isn’t that meme so silly? You’re the first to comment on it, so thank you, CM. It’s ever so slightly naughty, but that’s what makes it unexpectedly funny!

Exactly! I have been doing the pig thing for a couple of weeks now. Because it isn’t expected from me, is why I think others laugh. The ones who know me. π so I get it.

Nice. Reminds me of when we as kids would die of laughter when our mom, who normally scolded us for such behavior, would make a fart joke!! π

P.S. Someone has also taught him about cars driving too fast, crashing into trees, and starting on fire, but it wasn’t me!! I suppose it’s a good lesson for him later in life, though.
