Kindergarten quotes

When a boy ran by a kindergarten girl, she remarked, “That kid flew by like a bag of popcorn!”

Who knew popcorn could move so fast?

When asked what he would do with $100, one kindergartner said with glee, “I’d buy a Lamborghini, a new house, and an airplane!”

A quote from my (non-kindergarten) daughter that was pretty entertaining came when she stepped out of the van after a 30-minute drive to our hiking site, looked down at her feet, and said, “Awww, man.”

She was still wearing her slippers. So she hiked, and even ran, in slippers. So be it. At least her feet were comfortable.

Before the hike, we took a leisurely stroll across this bridge.

Then my son discovered planking. A little behind the trend, but oh well.

He also rediscovered dirt. It was hard to get him moving again from this spot.

Is it warming up where you live? Are you getting outside? With or without slippers on? What would you buy if you had a whole $100? 🙂

  2. Answers: Yes it is warming up here. I am getting outside. Without slippers – I prefer shoes. I’m going with the Lamborghini – if you can get that for $100, I’m in.

    and that looks like good dirt, I’d be spending a lot of time there too … where’s my shovel?

  4. I’ll never understand (and fail to remember) the desire to plop right down in and sand available and start covering your body with it. My son would be perfectly happy sitting at second base filling his hat with orange sand.

  9. At this point, considering the current political climate and the coronavirus and the fact that it’s still gray outside here, I’d take the $100 and buy a bottle to top shelf bourbon. Seems like it might be the best way to invest the money, all things considered.

  10. So funny. Nothing like dirt, lots and lots of dirt. Lol. I had a meeting in town on Monday and inadvertently wore my slippers. Oops. And mine have sparkles on them! So I can relate to your daughter’s fashion faux pas. 🙂

      • We hosted a Thanksgiving-noon dinner many years back for my husband’s co-workers and their wives. I got all dressed up in the morning, then cooked for a couple hours till the guests arrived. One man walked in the door, greeted my husband, then turned to me and said “Nice shoes”. Puzzled, I looked down…to see my very furry/shaggy bright blue slippers. (I shrieked and fled for the bedroom.)

  11. 1. Yes, it’s warmed up quite a bit. Melted all our snow. But…
    2. Big cool-down (and more snow) expected beginning tonight. Looks to last well into next week.
    3. Moral of the story is: it’s still winter in South Dakota.
    4. I have never hiked in slippers but would really love to go barefoot sometime.
    5. I’d buy as many rolls of toilet paper as I could with $100. Duh.

  14. Love the pictures of your little guy discovering dirt. When my youngest daughter went out to play with her sister, she would always come back in covered in dirt. The oldest would still be nice and clean but the youngest would be dirty from head to toe. I love getting in the dirt also in the spring when we plant flowers. My husband always looks clean and I am covered in dirt. Something relaxing about playing in the dirt.

  18. Your posts are just the best way to start my day’s reading: I am once again, rolling! I love thinking about popcorn’s new trajectory, and how much $100 might buy me in a better world.

    But what takes the cake is your adorable daughter!!!! And she is such a trooper to continue and finish hiking in her house shoes (I do know how she might have felt because I have actually stepped out many a time in mine; but the supermarket is probably the most adventurous thing I have done in mine).

    • I am so delighted to bring you joy in an otherwise dark world just now, PP! I’ve only gotten so far as the garage in my house shoes before I discovered the error.   20. Love this post, Betsy! If I could get away with hiking in slippers, I would; my slippers tend to have less-durable soles 🙂 I will, however, go into the yard with them. And Joe! What a cutie (your daughter is adorable, too 🙂 ). Dirt! Nothing quite like getting into the dirt in spring after a long winter. There is something therapeutic about it, just digging into the soil with your bare hands 😀

    It’s thinking about spring here, with temps hovering in the mid to upper 30s. Not much snow around, but we know there is still a lot of opportunity for snow. Ugh. I’m ready for all-out spring!

    If I had a hundred dollars, I would buy a round-trip ticket to Hawaii, because I think the price has tanked. Perfect excuse to go now, virus be damned 😀 😀

  21. When I studied abroad in Spain as a college student, I accidentally joined a mountaineering group for a day, probably because my Spanish wasn’t very good at that point. In any case, I thought we’d be doing “picnic” hiking, so I just wore slip-on flat shoes. (They may as well have been slippers.) Six hours of mountain hiking later–and absolutely terrified–I was so grateful to see the charter bus that would take us home. Cheers to your daughter for being able to hike in slippers:)

  22. Love the quotes 😂 it’s pretty warm again over here in Arkansas we try to get out whenever possible but not too much these days 😬 if I had an extra $100 I’d use it to buy some more baseball cards 😆 hope you guys are safe, happy and healthy over there 🙏
