The Write Spot, Part 1

Standard

I’ve previously written about my difficulty finding a quiet place away from the house to work without fear of freezing or minor theft. But since that didn’t happen at the library, I decided to just stay home.

I got cozy and warm under a blanket on my bed with my laptop snuggled on my lap. The house was quiet. Joe was napping. The girls were reading. I was being productive.

Then Joe woke up.

Suddenly doors up and down the hallway were opening and closing as all four children, makeshift wands aloft shouted, “Expelliarmus!” “Protego!” “Stupefy!” “Impedimenta!”

Amazingly, I managed to smile and keep writing. But when I heard little Joe yell, “Crucio!” I shouted through my bedroom door, “No teaching your brother the Unforgivable Curses!”

If you’re unfamiliar with Harry Potter, I apologize that this makes no sense.

The following week, I decided to try the library again (next post). I was told later that when I drove away, Joe attempted to summon me back by saying, “Accio Mom.”

The things these girls are teaching him!

  1. Oh my, I LOVE LOVE it! How old is he? Can’t believe he’s already into Harry Potter. I have been waiting to watch the movies and read all the books once again with my babies. They just don’t seem to be ready yet though!

  2. Yes, you’ve got to keep those girls inline with those spells – somebody could get hurt with all those spells flying around.

but be careful because someday his magic just might be strong enough to really, “Accio mom.”

  3. So. CUTE. And those owls are going to show up to summon your practicing wizards to Hogwarts! then again, you never know what those older sisters are going to teach him. Wait, if they master the transformation spell, they could turn Joe into a kitty. Then you’d have your very own πŸ™‚ Wait, that kinda ruins the whole “teaching spells to little brother” exercise. Hmm. Good luck, Betsy! May those owls not run into the windows πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€
