I’ve previously written about my difficulty finding a quiet place away from the house to work without fear of freezing or minor theft. But since that didn’t happen at the library, I decided to just stay home.
I got cozy and warm under a blanket on my bed with my laptop snuggled on my lap. The house was quiet. Joe was napping. The girls were reading. I was being productive.
Then Joe woke up.
Suddenly doors up and down the hallway were opening and closing as all four children, makeshift wands aloft shouted, “Expelliarmus!” “Protego!” “Stupefy!” “Impedimenta!”
Amazingly, I managed to smile and keep writing. But when I heard little Joe yell, “Crucio!” I shouted through my bedroom door, “No teaching your brother the Unforgivable Curses!”
If you’re unfamiliar with Harry Potter, I apologize that this makes no sense.
The following week, I decided to try the library again (next post). I was told later that when I drove away, Joe attempted to summon me back by saying, “Accio Mom.”
The things these girls are teaching him!
