That’s what my youngest daughter said when she saw me spoiling my dinner. In fact, all three girls stopped conversation to stare at me in the kitchen, while dinner cooked.
“Why?” I asked her, innocently.
“Because then I can eat candy whenever I want, too.”
Yep, pays to be the mom.
This morning I found this taped to the girls’ bedroom door.
My husband reported seeing them congregate inside with a load of paper and coloring materials. The door locked and whispering ensued.
It must be my birthday tomorrow. 🙂
Happy Birthday! Hopefully you’ll be able to get a nap as a present. With a new baby, that’s the best gift of all!

Well, happy birthday! So you haven’t full told them what it takes to earn the title and responsibility of “mom.” I am sure a bit of extra candy is nice, but likely doesn’t fully compensate for the work to get there. I mean, I’m not a mom, just guessing.

Oh, I know. I didn’t want to burst her bubble by telling her how I’ve been spending my middle of the nights lately.

Last night my husband asked if I wanted to open a gift early. I said, “What? You usually frown on that sort of thing.” “I just want you to be in a better mood.” (The baby was giving me a hard time.) I said, “It would only improve my mood if the gift was chocolate.” He gave me a look. So I said, “Okay, give it to me.” 🙂 Dark chocolate sea salt caramel. A-yum!

LOL! Yep, pays to be the mom–wait, you don’t have any teenagers yet. Might have a few stray second thoughts when that comes around. Also…
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BETSY!
Whew, okay, got that off my chest. And wishing you a great day and a kitten animal hat 😀

Also, how did you come up with kitten animal hat? Yesterday the hubs and I found ourselves with bear animal hats. The coincidence of you saying that is eerie.

I hope you had a lovely birthday! I laughed at your youngest daughters comment about eating candy. Sometimes hubby and I couldn’t be bothered cooking at night so we have ice cream for dinner. We had some friends come over one afternoon with three young children and we told them were were having ice cream for dinner. They were astounded and very jealous! They asked why we did that and I said, “because we’re adults and we can”. 😀

Love it! I hope those kids weren’t like, “Mom, why can’t we be like them? THEY had ice cream for dinner. Why can’t WE?!” Your friends may never visit you again. If that was your plan, well played. 😉

Awh. Makes me sad to think maybe you’d lost faith in families. We’re still here. We still make it work and stay in tact. 🙂

They made me adorable little coupons allowing me to sleep with some of their favorite stuffed animals for an allotted amount of time, like one or two nights or even a full week! Such a sacrifice! And creative of them. They clearly put a lot of work into those.

Making coupons for me to sleep with certain of their stuffed animals for varying amounts of time: 1 night, 2 nights, 1 week. Very generous of them. 🙂

I couldn’t wait until I was a dad so I could stay up as late as I wanted! Little did I know that kids wear you out and you end up turning off the lights at 9:00 most nights. Oh, the irony!
