If authors call books their babies…

Standard

I’ve just given birth! Look at them all. Aren’t they beautiful? And all redheads! Twenty-five of them! Octomom has nothing on me. I’m not even sure there’s a word for giving birth to 25 at once. It’s more like a litter of puppies. That would make me a … Nooooope, never mind!

They actually arrived last week, but I’ve been slowed by my recovery. Postpartum for multiples is an especially difficult time, you know. You’ll be able to get your hands on one next Monday, once you’ve washed your hands, of course.

101_cover_largeI also learned that my first book has been translated into Korean! Now there are versions in India, Poland, AND Korea! It’s amazing thinking that my co-author and I are making a difference in people’s lives. I hope this next book will be just like its big sister, maybe even better, but like any good parent, I won’t choose a favorite.

But speaking of the first book, that one there —>, a man in the D.C. area contacted me because he Capital L-Loved it and wants me to speak at an annual conference being held there at the end of February.

I’ll have to buy a coat.

He also wants to buy a copy for each of the 200 or so attendees. Can we say, “Wow”?

And just so I don’t get overly excited about my writing career, or slip something in here about having another article published in our local newspaper (ahem), I’ll remind myself that I am first and foremost a mother to bonafide human beings (or so the doctors patiently reassure me). So here’s an instance that makes that all too clear:

My middle child was on the potty for a long time before bed. She said to me, “I tried to poop but I couldn’t. I’ll try again tomorrow.” Then she added, “You may stay in tonight, poop. You may come out in the morning.”

There you have it folks! Nothing but geniuses in this house. But polite ones at that.

Until next week!

    • Hey, Jacqui, back to this blog tour thing, which I’ve never done before aside from posting about your book, would you be willing to do a post about this book of mine? Perhaps with a mention that I’ve also written 101 Tips for a Happier Marriage–to reach a wider audience?

Second, on those little tidbits about your first you oh so casually threw in – how super, awesome, amazing, exciting for you!
