My daughter’s way with words

Standard

When I was checking my oldest’s writing, I noticed some odd things.

For instance, a word was missing a few letters. When I pointed it out, my daughter said, “Some letters that were invited to the word party didn’t show up.”

Um, let’s have them arrive late then, shall we?

Then I asked, “Why are the quotation marks falling down to the line?”

She responded, “Somebody put rocks in them.”quotation marks 2

And finally, I dared to ask why a comma was floating above the line.

She said, “It stayed on top because it’s afraid of the water.”

Maybe not the best at spelling and handwriting, but a quick wit!

Happy New Year, blog world! Are you making any resolutions? If so, please share. I could use some ideas. Perhaps resolution #1 should be to stop procrastinating and come up with my own ideas!

  1. I love this, kids can be so quick thinking, it always impresses me! When my daughter was three she was doing the monkey rhyme, which I’m sure you know but just in case –

Three little monkeys jumping on the bed, one feel off and bumped his head, momma called the doctor and the doctor said “No more monkeys jumping on the bed!” Two little monkeys etc…

Anyway, she got it a bit wrong and said – Three little monkeys jumping on the bed, momma called the doctor and the doctor said “No more monkeys jumping on the bed!”

So I said to her “Oh, he didn’t fall off and bump his head!” and without missing a beat, she said “No, because he was being careful.” πŸ™‚

  2. I am jealous of everyone who is so quick-witted! πŸ™‚ I don’t normally set up challenges or make goals at New Years, but this year, the time is right to work on the diet and exercise. So far, so good. πŸ™‚
