We have cold cereal for breakfast almost every morning. The names of the different brands of cereal have gotten lost in toddler translation. One of our three-year-old’s favorites is “Honey Bunches of Oats”, but when we ask her what she’d like to eat she says: “Honey Jumps on The Boat.”

I love how kids rename things based on how they sound. When my kids were little, I’d often say, “Drink your water. It’s good for your kidneys.” One day my oldest son, who was three at the time, said (in response to me telling him to drink his water), “Cause it’s good for my kitties, Mommy?”

Of course, why I’m talking about kidneys to a three year old begs an answer unto itself..

My 4 year old calls clouds, “Plouds”…..I make him say it just so I can hear him mispronounce it:)

I’m the same way with my 3-yr-old and the movie Ratatouille. It’s so adorable. I’ll miss their cute little voices and mispronunciations!

Hehe cute! I did this all the time when I was a kid too. Why I never questioned why it sounded strange, I don’t know 🙂

Oh yea. I tell them there has to be blood. I used to be a school secretary, and eventually had to employ that rule with the young students who would come in ALL THE TIME for band-aids for their microscopic scrapes. It’s like they would wear them as a badge of honor. It got to be too much. Then the mean old secretary put an end to that. I do remember asking one student, “Where?” So she squeezed the scrape to make it bleed a little bit. Ah, kids!

She squeezed the scrape? Thanks for that I gotta go and get a rag because there is coffee ALL over. Over and out.
