Last night I took my two oldest to the grocery store with me. It was a store they hadn’t been to before, and they had, according to them, “The time of their lives.”
On the way home, I asked why they liked that store so much. My seven-year-old said, “Because we got new cereal and such.” Then the five-year-old piped up, “Yea! new cereal and SUCH!!”
She apparently had no idea what “such” was, but she was certainly pleased to have it!
On a recent Starbucks drive-thru run, my two-year-old, from the back corner of the car called to the woman at the window, “I’m Elise.” Receiving no response, she shouted again, “Can you hear me? I’m Elise!”
Once our transaction was complete, Elise soon forgot her failed attempt at communication with the coffee siren. Her mind shifted gears, and she called up to me, “French fries, please!”
I have no idea how going through a drive-thru has conditioned her to expect french fries. Ahem.
Then, once at home, the seven-year-old sampled my coffee, and for some reason, I felt moved to take a picture.
Then she said to me, “Why don’t you put that on your blog with ‘Child drinking her mother’s coffee’?” Yet another future writer in the family?
They know the routine!

That’s so cute! Mine are now conditioned to ask for a hot chocolate whenever we get anywhere near a Starbucks. Thankfully we don’t have any here in PR.
I’ve been looking around for a kid friendly blogging platform as my two are wanting to start their own blogs. I’ll let you know if I find one. 🙂

At least hot chocolate is a little more healthy than french fries, and I am SO glad my kids don’t know that Starbucks serves hot chocolate. Once I let them in on that little secret, I’ll never be able to get coffee in peace.
How great about the kid blog idea! Such a wonderful outlet for creative writing skills. My oldest hates writing, but maybe she’d be more keen on typing.

My kids like their weekend cereal. They know they have oatmeal during the week and the weekend they get to have POPS or something. My 7 year old always tries to “put-one-over-on-me” with wanting Lucky Charms, but I told her I was wise to her only eating the marshmallow charms and that’s it and wasting the rest of the cereal. She also demands french-fries each drive-thru don’t know why?

I hear you on the Lucky Charms. I stopped buying those (which was on rare occasion to begin with) because my two year old was the same way. It wasn’t worth the fight. Same goes for the crunch berries in Captain Crunch. The cereal isn’t worth it for other reasons, too, of course. Because, you know, I’m a very health conscious mom. 😉

“And such” is an expression I’ve recently began using. How did your little one come up with that? (I had to come by for my funny fix.) Your kiddies are adorable.

Teresa, I’m so happy to see you! I thought of you when I posted this. I can’t remember why now. I just wanted you to see this one, I guess, and then I felt sad, figuring you probably wouldn’t since you’re slowing down on the blog-front. But you came! Yea! I hope your job search is going well!! So pleased you took the time to come by. 🙂

I don’t think that either my husband or I say it. But, I guess one of us did at some point and she picked up on it.

I think it’s so funny–not that she said “Put that picture on your blog”, but that she said “And here’s a title for it”!
