Funny things my kids say

Last night I took my two oldest to the grocery store with me. It was a store they hadn’t been to before, and they had, according to them, “The time of their lives.”

 

On the way home, I asked why they liked that store so much. My seven-year-old said, “Because we got new cereal and such.” Then the five-year-old piped up, “Yea! new cereal and SUCH!!”

 

She apparently had no idea what “such” was, but she was certainly pleased to have it!

 

On a recent Starbucks drive-thru run, my two-year-old, from the back corner of the car called to the woman at the window, “I’m Elise.” Receiving no response, she shouted again, “Can you hear me? I’m Elise!”

 

Once our transaction was complete, Elise soon forgot her failed attempt at communication with the coffee siren. Her mind shifted gears, and she called up to me, “French fries, please!”

 

I have no idea how going through a drive-thru has conditioned her to expect french fries. Ahem.

 

Then, once at home, the seven-year-old sampled my coffee, and for some reason, I felt moved to take a picture.

Then she said to me, “Why don’t you put that on your blog with ‘Child drinking her mother’s coffee’?” Yet another future writer in the family?
