I asked the students in my history class to write lines from the Declaration of Independence that they were to have memorized. One student started out well, but then…
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain illegible rights.”
I couldn’t help but wonder, “What are the rights? I can’t read them! That’s so unfair! I want to know what they say!!”
