I sent my six-year-old daughter to deliver some lemons and oranges from our yard to the widow next door. Worried that she might rudely deliver the fruit and leave without a word, I called to her, “Don’t forget to say, ‘You’re welcome.'”
When my daughter returned, she gave me the full report: “I rang the doorbell, and when the lady opened the door, I said, ‘You’re welcome!’ and handed her the bag.”

That’s all you can do. At the end of the day you hope and pray that something, ANYTHING you said sinks in.

So true, and I would think it would be even more of a challenge with little boys! 😉

Both my son and daughter are equally difficult. I’m only kidding. They’re good kids, but I haven’t found one is easier than the other.

I only have three girls, so I wouldn’t know anything about boys, but my youngest, at nearly two, is definitely the biggest rascal. Have you ever met someone who needed to put locks on the UPPER kitchen cabinets? My little girl can scale the lower cabinets and get on the counter in less than three seconds!

At least she did what you asked her to do :o)
I love your sweet vignettes.

It’s true. I couldn’t be mad at her. I just need to be more specific. Funny thing is I was so proud of her for doing it. “Awh, my little girl is growing up. I’m sending her on errands to the neighbor.” We’ll do better next time. 🙂 Thanks.
