A lovely parting gift?

Standard

Whenever a guest comes to our house, our four-year-old always wants to show that person something. Usually, it’s “Come see my room!” or “Come look at the tree painted on the wall.” One time when someone stopped by briefly, and my daughter was in the bathroom during that time, she was quite upset that she hadn’t been able to give our guest her customary tour. She began screaming and crying, “Wait! I wanted to show her my poop!”

  1. Freud would say that the fact that she wants to show people her poop at this age (what is known as the “anal” stage of life) is an indicator that she will grow up to be a generous person who is giving. Kids who don’t share their poop with others tend to be more frugal and “anal” about their belongings.
