Oh, conscience… Hello? Are you in there?

In the car the other day, my seven-year-old asked if she had a conscience.  I told her, “Yes,” and then slowly asked, “Why?”
“Because,” she replied. “I wasn’t sure, so I decided to test it.  I thought about doing something bad to my brother, I waited, and I still wanted to do it.  So, I don’t think mine’s working.”
